Today, the Federal Government revealed the $25,000 HomeBuilder grant which will be available to all eligible Australian's who enter a build contract from: 4th June 2020 until 31st December 2020.
Scott Morrison delivered the speech today saying "A dream that they (Australians) thought might have been crushed by the coronavirus. We are here to tell them we are going to keep that dream alive for them and the dreams alive of the jobs and the builders and apprentices and tradies, all of those who depend on this critical industry across the country."
Are you eligible?
FIRST HOME BUYER: NEW HOME BUILD (Metro Melb)
Federal Grant: $25,000
VIC State Grant: $10,000
TOTAL: $35,000
FIRST HOME BUYER: NEW HOME BUILD (Regional VIC)
Federal Grant: $25,000 VIC State Grant: $20,000 TOTAL: $45,000
UPGRADER: NEW HOME BUILD (VIC)
Federal Grant: $25,000
TOTAL: $25,000
To qualify:
Your home and land must be under $750,000.
Single income must be under $125,000 (18/19 Tax Return) or
Couple combined income must be under $200,000 (18/19 Tax Return).
You must enter a new build contract between 4th June 2020 and 31st December 2020
It must be your principal place of residence and NOT be used for an investment property.
VIC Stamp Duty Exemptions
- First Home Buyers, no stamp duty on land up to $600,000
- First Home Buyers, no stamp duty on established property up to $600,000
- First Home Buyers, stamp duty concession on property between $600,001 and $700,000
NEW RENOVATIONS: (VIC)
Federal Grant: $25,000
TOTAL: $25,000
To qualify:
Renovation contract must be between $150,000 - $750,000
For existing property valuation must be no more than $1.5m.
As a single your income must be under $125,000 (18/19 Tax Return)
As a couple combined income must be under $200,000 (18/19 Tax Return).
Renovations must be competed by a licenced builder
HomeBuilder money cannot be used on the following:
Investment properties
Swimming pools
Tennis courts
Outdoor spas
Saunas
Sheds
Garages
It is important to note, that construction must commence within 3 months of your contract signing date for the grant to be eligible. This applies to all areas, first home buyers, upgraders and renovations.
